Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23 -- Odisha has stepped up preparedness as a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy rainfall to several parts of the state. The administration reviewed preparations with concerned departments and district administrations in southern Odisha following directions from the Chief Secretary.

Sensitive areas have been identified and cyclone and flood shelters have been readied in vulnerable districts. Essential materials and equipment have been stocked, while health and emergency services have also been kept prepared. Water levels in rivers, reservoirs and dams are being continuously monitored, with special attention to landslide-prone areas.
