Bhubaneswar, May 21 -- Odisha continues to reel under an intense heatwave on Thursday as soaring temperatures and oppressive humidity disrupted normal life across several districts, particularly in western parts of the state.

The mercury touched 46 degrees Celsius in Jharsuguda, making it one of the hottest places in Odisha this season. According to the Regional Meteorological Centre in Bhubaneswar, temperatures are likely to rise further by nearly two degrees Celsius over the next five days, with no immediate relief expected before May 26.
