Bhubaneswar, Sept. 28 -- A man was brutally killed, and his body was burnt by a group of villagers on suspicion of practicing witchcraft in Gajapati district of Odisha. The incident was reported from Nerama village under Mohana police station limits.

The deceased has been identified as Ramachandra Mallik, an elderly resident of the same village. According to the information available, villagers suspected he practiced witchcraft after a woman and a two-month-old baby died in the village within a month.

Following the deaths, some villagers allegedly suspected Ramachandra of practising witchcraft. A meeting was reportedly held in the village over the matter.
