India, Aug. 2 -- A youth allegedly severed his own tongue at Goddess Kali temple on Saturday night in Hansatuli village, under Beguniapada block in Odisha's Ganjam district. The individual was receiving medical treatment at the time of reporting after being found in a critical condition on Sunday morning.

On Sunday morning, local residents found the youth lying near the steps of the temple covered in blood. He was immediately rushed to the Khallikote Community Health Centre through 108 ambulance services.

Following primary treatment at the health centre, medical staff transferred him to MKCG Medical College and Hospital in Berhampur due to the severity of his condition.
