Odisha rolls out digital rental registry to safeguard landlords and tenants
Bhubaneswar, June 14 -- A series of new regulatory directives aimed at streamlining rental agreements and protecting the rights of both property owners and tenants has been introduced in Odisha.
Under the new guidelines, all rental documents and tenancy agreements must be uploaded to a dedicated digital portal, which will subsequently generate a unique identification number for each contract.
The framework introduces standardized notice periods, explicit consumer protections for tenants, and strict timeframes for resolving legal friction between contracting parties.
The newly introduced rules target long-standing systemic issues within the rental market, particularly regarding financial transactions and arbitrary evictions.
