Bhubaneswar, Sept. 26 -- In view of continuous heavy rainfall and the prevailing weather conditions, schools in five districts of Odisha were closed on Saturday. The decision has been taken by the respective district collectors, with authorities keeping a close watch on the situation.

According to the reports, schools in Cuttack, Malkangiri, Nabarangpur and Nuapada districts will remain closed today. In Bhadrak, the district administration has announced the closure of 399 schools across seven blocks.

School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond said the holidays could be extended by another one or two days if the situation demands. The decision will depend on the weather and ground conditions in the affected areas.
