Bhubaneswar, Sept. 13 -- A police constable was allegedly run over by a car driven by members of a drug mafia during patrolling in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur late on Saturday night. The incident occurred under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police limits, where a constable was reportedly targeted by the accused.

Police constable Nityananda Senapati sustained serious injuries after the car was allegedly driven over him in an attempt to kill him. Following the incident, police arrested two alleged notorious drugs mafia members, identified as Vicky Parija and Jacky Parija.

According to reports, three other persons allegedly involved in the case are absconding. Police launched an investigation into the incident and the involvement of the accused.
