Bhubaneswar, May 9 -- A low pressure area is likely to form over the Bay of Bengal around May 12 or 13. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) indicated that the developing weather system may bring rainfall activity across Odisha.

According to the IMD, a cyclonic circulation formed over the south Andaman Sea and extends up to 1.5 km above mean sea level. The system is likely to intensify further over the coming days and develop into a low pressure area around May 12 or 13.

The weather department also forecasted the possibility of the system intensifying into a depression after the formation of the low pressure area. However, the IMD stated that the chances of the system developing into a cyclone remain low.
