Odisha new excise policy: Liquor up to 180 ml in tetra packs, no shops on Puri beach
Bhubaneswar, April 3 -- In a major reform aimed at modernising liquor distribution and reducing environmental impact, the Odisha Excise Department has introduced new guidelines permitting the sale of liquor in tetra packs of up to 180 ml.
Under the revised policy, liquor will now be available in sturdy paper-based tetra packaging instead of conventional glass bottles. These packs will consist of six security layers to prevent leakage, contamination, and tampering.
Officials said the move is designed not only to enhance consumer safety but also to address concerns related to environmental pollution caused by discarded glass bottles.
