Bhubaneswar, April 1 -- The Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) has flagged that state-owned Odisha Mining Corporation (OMC) is liable to pay penalties amounting to Rs 1,328 crore for excess production in two of its mines.
According to the CAG report on state public sector undertakings, tabled in the Assembly on Tuesday, OMC exceeded the permissible production limits in both Kodingamali bauxite and Sukrangi chromite mines during 2018-19.
According to The Times of India report, in the Kodingamali bauxite mine, the corporation produced 27 lakh metric tonnes of bauxite against the approved consent-to-operate limit of 22.6 lakh metric tonnes, resulting in excess output of 4.4 lakh metric tonnes.
