Odisha MBBS student death: Chandrika case sparks debate on beauty standards and mental health
Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- The death of medical student Chandrika Hembram, whose body was recovered from beneath the Kathajodi bridge in Odisha's Cuttack district on Thursday, took a new turn after her mother made a series of allegations four days after the incident.
Chandrika's mother, Hiramani Hansda, alleged that her daughter was under severe mental distress and was murdered in a planned manner. She also levelled allegations against Chandrika's boyfriend, Bhimsen Tudu, claiming his actions had a significant impact on her daughter's mental well-being.
Hiramani Hansda claimed that Chandrika was trying to change her appearance to win the affection of her boyfriend. According to her, Chandrika felt that Bhimsen considered her dark-skinned.
