Bhubaneswar, April 17 -- The Odishagovernment formally intervened following a linguistic controversy in the Jharkhand Teacher Eligibility Test (JHTET) 2026. The Odia language syllabus was published using the Devanagari script instead of its native characters. 

In a stern communication to the Jharkhand Academic Council, the Odisha Language, Literature and Culture Department demanded an immediate republication of the syllabus in the correct Odia script.

Rashmita Panda, the Commissioner-cum-Secretary of the department, described the decision to use Devanagari for the Odia syllabus as "highly regretful".
