Odisha installs solar-powered sirens to warn villagers of elephant movement
Bhubaneswar, July 3 -- In an effort to reduce human elephant conflict in Odisha's Kandhamal district, the Forest Department has installed solar powered siren systems in elephant corridors to alert villagers about the movement of wild elephants.
Six sirens have been installed in the G Udayagiri forest range at Linga, Malanasuga, Pukulingia, Gamuli, Retudi and Pidikimaha, areas that frequently witness elephant movement and human wildlife conflict.
