Bhubaneswar, Sept. 2 -- Odisha government on Wednesday announced a reduction in the fine for vehicles without a valid Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC) and brought the maximum penalty down from Rs 10,000 to Rs 6,000. The new penalty structure was introduced by replacing the fine provision that was in place since 2019.

Under the revised system, the penalty would vary according to the type of vehicle and whether the violation is committed for the first or the second time.

Bibhuti Bhushan Jena, Transport Minister of Odisha, said, "Since 2019, the fine for vehicles without a PUCC has been Rs 10,000. Today, the government decided to reduce the fine amount to lessen the burden on the people."
