India, Sept. 16 -- Odisha is set to further strengthen its weather forecasting with the installation of advanced doppler weather radar system in Sambalpur today.

Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi will inaugurate the radar system at 2:10 pm. He is scheduled to reach Jamadarpali Airstrip before proceeding to Jogipali for the inauguration, reportedly.

Radar to Strengthen Weather Forecasting The new radar is a C-band weather radar which can provide weather-related data within a radius of around 250 kilometres.

The radar will help track several weather conditions such as rainfall, lightning, thunderstorms and hailstorms. It can also help in monitoring heavy and deficient rainfall.
