Bhubaneswar, Sept. 23 -- The Forest department has decided to remove the radio collar of tigress Jamuna, who was translocated from Maharashtra to Odisha under the big cat supplementation programme, after the device's battery reportedly stopped working.

According to The New Indian Express report, Similipal Tiger Reserve (STR) management has instructed the Balasore Wildlife Division to initiate the removal process. The collar is expected to be unlocked remotely, and officials do not require tranquilising the tigress for the procedure.

Jamuna has been staying in the Kuldiha landscape since December 2024, after moving out of the Similipal core area. She was earlier monitored through the radio collar and VHF tracking system. However, the col...
