India, July 23 -- More than 50 girl students of Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Saragada under Bijatala block in Mayurbhanj district allegedly fell ill after consuming chhatua last evening. The students, studying from Classes 6 to 10, complained of stomach pain, vomiting and diarrhoea, sources said on Thursday.

Following the incident, school authorities admitted at least 19 seriously ill students to the Rairangpur Sub-Divisional Hospital (SDH) for treatment. On receiving information, Sub-Collector Ugrasen Oram and the Bijatala Block Education Officer (BEO) visited the hospital and took stock of the students' health.
