Odisha floods update: Salandi river witnesses 8 breaches, repair work underway in Bhadrak
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 2 -- Eight breaches have been reported at different locations along the Salandi river and its tributary Nalia river amid the ongoing flood in Odisha's Bhadrak. The breaches, both major and minor, affected hundreds of hectares of farmland, leaving large areas submerged.
The biggest breach, measuring around 150 feet, occurred at Bilana-Lanjatara in Tihidi block, while another breach of over 100 feet was reported near Talagopabindha. Breaches exceeding 50 feet have also occurred at several other locations.
The Irrigation Department took up the repair work on the damaged embankments on a war footing. While repairs at some locations were completed, work was still underway at others.
