Odisha floods: Subarnarekha river recedes, yet rural distress deepens in Balasore
Bhubaneswar, Sept. 4 -- The flood situation remains serious in several low-lying areas of Balasore district in Odisha, even though the Subarnarekha river is flowing below the danger mark. Several villages in Baliapal and Bhograi are reportedly waterlogged due to the rising water level.
According to reports, the danger level of the Subarnarekha is 10.36 metres at Rajghat. However, the water level was recorded at 9.60 metres as of Friday morning. Despite remaining below the danger mark, the river is still flowing above the warning level.
The flooding has affected thousands of hectares of vegetable crops in the river basin. Several farms have reportedly been damaged, leaving farmers facing losses.
