Bhubaneswar, Sept. 26 -- A pregnant woman in Odisha's Ganjam district delivered a baby girl after a rescue team failed to reach her on time when their boat overturned in strong floodwaters.

The incident took place in Tadama village under Baibali panchayat of Bhanjanagar block on Saturday.

According to reports, Fire Services personnel had set out to rescue the pregnant woman, identified as Arati Goud, after receiving information that she needed urgent assistance amid worsening water conditions in the area.

Teams from Bhanjanagar and Belaguntha Fire Services, along with administrative officials, reached the area and attempted to cross the river to reach the woman.
