Odisha floods: Bhadrak's Basudevpur still marooned after 15 days, crops ravaged
Bhubaneswar, Aug. 4 -- While water levels have dropped in several parts of Odisha, many villages remain surrounded by floodwater. A case in point is the flood situation in Bhadrak district's Basudevpur area.
Several families in Basudevpur are reportedly still stranded and cut off from the outside world. For the locals, trapped in floodwaters for the last 15 days, the crisis worsened when a second wave of floods hit before the first floodwaters could recede.
The new deluge submerged everything once again, destroying agricultural lands across the region.
Farmers are in despair as floodwaters have destroyed their vegetable crops and paddy seedlings, leaving them with nothing to harvest.
