Bhubaneswar, Aug. 26 -- Flood threat has emerged in the Baramba area of Odisha's Cuttack district as the water level continues to rise steadily. The rising floodwater has also affected the famous Maa Bhattarika temple.

At present, the floodwater has reached up to the sanctum sanctorum of the temple. The situation has raised concerns about the safety of the temple and the idol of Maa Bhattarika, said a local.

Taking the situation seriously, the temple administration is on alert and keeping a close watch on the water level. Preparations have also been made to shift the idol of Maa Bhattarika to another location if the water level rises by another two feet.
