Bhubaneswar, Aug. 9 -- A man went missing after he was swept away in floodwaters after a portion of the soil collapsed near a breach in the Kani River in Jajpur district on Sunday.

The fatal incident occurred at Dhobabila village under Dasarathpur block when Maheswar Sutar of Patana village had gone out to attend the call of nature and relieve himself.

According to sources, the soil suddenly caved in near the breach, causing Sutar to fall into the surging water and get swept away. Fire personnel launched a search operation near the breach, but he was nowhere to be found till the time this news was reported.

No comments were received from the youth's family or fire personnel in this regard.
