Bhubaneswar, July 4 -- Odisha Deputy Chief Minister Pravati Parida responded to the controversy surrounding the expenditure on the Pakhala Dibasa celebrations, saying that events aimed at achieving global recognition and Guinness World Records require presentation on an international scale.

Addressing the criticism, Parida said Pakhala has traditionally been regarded as the food of the poor. However, she argued that when the dish is showcased to the world and featured in events across 10 countries, it must be presented in a manner befitting an international platform.
