Bhubaneswar, July 5 -- The Mayurbhanj Police on Sunday initiated disciplinary action against three police personnel after a preliminary investigation found that confidential information about a planned raid was leaked to suspected cattle smugglers, allowing a key accused to escape before the police team arrived.

An Assistant Sub Inspector (ASI) and a constable attached to Jharpokharia Police Station have been put on suspension. In addition, the Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police (SP) also recommended the dismissal of a Home Guard for his alleged involvement in the incident.
