Bhubaneswar, April 5 -- The Odishagovernment approved a revised reservation policy providing 50 per cent reservation for Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Socially and Educationally Backward Classes (SEBC) in medical, engineering and other higher and technical education courses, following a Cabinet decision taken on Saturday.

Under the new policy, reservation for Scheduled Tribes has been increased from 12 per cent to 22.5 per cent, while that for Scheduled Castes has been raised from 8 per cent to 16.25 per cent. An 11.25 per cent reservation has been introduced for SEBC students.

The decision will be implemented across all state universities, affiliated colleges and institutions, including ITIs and polytechnics.  ...
