Odisha braces for intense weather: Orange and yellow alerts issued across multiple districts
Bhubaneswar, May 29 -- The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a series of orange and yellow weather alerts across Odisha for the coming week, warning residents and authorities to remain vigilant amid expected thunderstorms, gusty winds, and heavy rainfall in several districts.
Day 1 (Till 0830 IST, 29 May 2026): North and South Odisha are expected to witness light to moderate rainfall at a few places.
An orange alert has been issued for Sundargarh, Jharsuguda, Sambalpur, Deogarh, Angul, Keonjhar, and Mayurbhanj, where thunderstorms with lightning and gusty winds up to 50-60 kmph are likely in the afternoon and evening. Heavy rainfall is expected in Keonjhar.
