Bhubaneswar, Sept. 29 -- The Odisha Pradesh Congress Committee (OPCC) on Tuesday called for a statewide bandh on October 8 protesting the Mines and Minerals (Development and Regulation) (MMDR) Amendment Act, 2026, resignation of CEC Gyanesh Kumar and Odisha School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.

PCC president Bhakta Charan Das appealed to members of the INDIA bloc to join the bandh and extend their support to the protest.

Besides, the party has also planned a seven-day 'economic blockade' and demanded the resignation of School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond.
