Bhubaneswar, April 15 -- In a significant move to preserve and promote the Odia language and culture, OdishaChief Minister Mohan Majhi announced on Tuesday that the Odia language will be made compulsory in all schools across the state. This decision reaffirms the government's commitment to enhancing the linguistic identity of the region.
The announcement was made during the concluding ceremony of Odia Paksha, an event organised to celebrate and promote the Odia language and culture. Speaking at the event, Chief Minister Majhi emphasised the importance of strengthening Odia Asmita (Odia pride), and stated that the mandate to teach Odia in schools would be implemented across all educational institutions in the state.
