India, Sept. 15 -- Nuakhai, the mass festival of western Odisha, is being celebrated across the region today. Villages and towns are joining in on the festivities. From Sundargarh to Sambalpur, Bolangir to Bargarh, and Kalahandi to Deogarh, the celebrations have brought a festive atmosphere across the region.

The traditional sounds of bells, gongs and other traditional instruments can be heard across villages and towns, while the aroma of pitha and other traditional delicacies fills homes as families prepare to observe the festival.
