Bhubaneswar, Sept. 25 -- A 70-year-old woman had to be carried on a makeshift cot for nearly one kilometre to reach an ambulance after the vehicle failed to reach her home due to a muddy road in Kendrapada district of Odisha on Thursday.

The incident took place in Gayenpada village under Suniti panchayat in Mahakalapada block, where residents have reportedly been facing difficulties due to the lack of a pucca road.

According to sources, the woman, identified as Parul Das, fell ill on Thursday night. Her family called a 108 ambulance, which arrived in the village but could not proceed to her house because of the poor condition of the road.
