Bhubaneswar, April 25 -- The National Green Tribunal (NGT) issued notices to six major stadiums across the country on Friday, including Barabati Stadium in Cuttack. The notices were issued over alleged misuse of groundwater for pitch and ground maintenance without the required clearances.

The tribunal observed that groundwater was being utilised for pitch maintenance without obtaining the mandatory No Objection Certificate (NOC). It also flagged non-compliance with prescribed water conservation norms and failure to furnish necessary information. The notices in this regard were issued on the April 16.
