Bhubaneswar, May 31 -- A newly-wed woman was rescued and admitted to hospital after allegedly jumping into the Mahanadi river from the Sonepur bridge on Sunday morning.

The woman, who reportedly got married just 15 days ago, was rescued by local youths and Fire Services personnel before being shifted to hospital for treatment.

According to reports, the woman and her husband had arrived at the Mahanadi bridge on a motorcycle and stopped there for some time on Sunday morning. The couple was reportedly taking photographs on the bridge when the incident occurred.

The woman suddenly jumped from the bridge into the river, triggering panic among people present in the area.
