Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- A newborn baby boy was rescued from roadside bushes near a primary school in Odisha's Keonjhar district on Saturday after a local woman heard the infant crying. The baby, who was found alive, was immediately shifted to a hospital and is now reported to be stable.

The incident took place near Raghunathpur Primary School under Turumunga police limits. According to local residents, a woman from the village had gone out in the morning when she heard the cries of a newborn coming from bushes along the roadside. Curious, she went closer and found the infant lying abandoned.
