Bhubaneswar, Sept. 30 -- A new railway station is set to be added to the Khurda-Balangir railway line, with Charichhak station nearing inclusion in the network connecting the region with Bhubaneswar.

Railway connectivity with Bhubaneswar is currently available through Purunakatak, Birnarasinghpur, Boudh, Jharmunda, Puranapani, Sonepur and Balangir. Work on the approximately 13-kilometre new railway stretch between Purunakatak and Charichhak is progressing rapidly to facilitate train operations.

The new stretch features tunnels constructed through the hills and high viaducts. Tunnel Number 7 has been built by cutting through the hills and will be used by trains operating on the route.
