Bhubaneswar, May 29 -- Orissa High Court has dismissed a petition from a NEET-UG candidate seeking an MBBS seat under the State Government School (SGS) category, ruling that applicants cannot simultaneously claim dual educational privileges.

A division bench comprising Justices Manash Ranjan Pathak and Sibo Sankar Mishra clarified that the specialized institutional quota is strictly applicable only if a student qualifies using a single certificate from the state board, as reported by The Indian Express.

The legal dispute arose when the candidate attempted to combine two different educational frameworks to meet basic medical admission criteria.
