Bhubaneswar, March 19 -- A Class IX student was reported missing from the Navodaya Vidyalaya hostel located in the sub-division of Malkangiri district in Odisha since Wednesday. Police initiated an investigation following complaints from both the school authorities and the student's family.

Two separate cases were registered at the Malkangiri police station in connection with the incident. While the school authorities lodged a complaint regarding the student going missing, the family members have alleged that the student was assaulted by a teacher.
