Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- The Odisha government's initiative to align the English spellings of districts, cities and towns with their original Odia pronunciation has gathered pace, with signboards at government offices across the state being replaced with revised nomenclature. However, the move has also triggered confusion among citizens over the status of official documents, online records and central government databases.

Following instructions issued by Additional Chief Secretary Aravind Padhee, authorities have begun changing nameplates, advertisements and display boards at government establishments in 64 locations across the state.
