Bhubaneswar, July 1 -- State-run National Aluminium Company Limited (NALCO) plans to invest around Rs 28,000 to Rs 30,000 Cr over the next three to four years to expand its aluminium production capacity through a new smelter and a captive power plant, Chairman and Managing Director Brijendra Pratap Singh said.

According to a report by The Hindu, Singh said the company plans to set up a 0.5 million tonne aluminium smelter along with a 1,000 MW captive power plant. The Detailed Project Report (DPR) will be prepared this year, while the tendering process is expected to be completed next year. Groundwork for the project is likely to begin around August or September 2027.

NALCO aims to complete both projects by the end of 2030 or in 2031. Ar...
