Bhubaneswar, July 9 -- Odisha's industrial landscape is set for a major expansion after state-owned National Aluminium Company Ltd (NALCO) and NLC India Ltd (NLCIL) signed a joint venture agreement to establish a massive 4x270 MW (1,080 MW) captive thermal power plant in Angul.

This critical energy project will entirely support the power requirements of NALCO's 0.5 MTPA aluminium smelter expansion project within the state, as reported by CNBCTV18.

The proposed joint venture company (JVC) will be equally owned by both public sector undertakings, with each holding a 50 per cent equity stake and maintaining equal representation on the board.
