Minor dies after drowning in stone quarry pit in Keonjhar; locals stage road blockade
Bhubaneswar, June 15 -- The body of a 16-year-old boy was recovered from a stone quarry pit in Odisha's Keonjhar district on Monday, a day after he reportedly went missing after drowning in the water-filled excavation site on Sunday. The deceased has been identified as Nihar, a resident of Khaliamenta village under Ghasipura police station limits.
Angry locals blocked roads since Sunday, alleging administration apathy as no rescue operation was launched immediately after the boy reportedly went missing. The locals also alleged that the accident happened due to excessive stone mining in the area.
