Bhubaneswar, March 7 -- A five-year-old boy was allegedly abducted and later murdered in a shocking incident in Odisha's Rayagada district on Saturday morning. The incident was reported from Chatikona Puruna Station Sahi under the Bissamcuttack police station limits.

The body of the minor was recovered from inside a sack behind an old house in the locality. According to reports, the child had been missing since Friday evening, triggering concern among family members and residents of the area.

Preliminary reports suggest that a message was sent from an unknown number to the child's maternal uncle demanding a ransom of Rs 4 lakh. The message allegedly warned the family not to inform the police about the abduction.
