Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- Over 20 people were injured after a religious procession allegedly turned violent at Dargah Maidan area in Odisha's Balasore late Friday night. Police brought the situation under control within a short time, and normalcy returned to the area by Saturday morning.

Police teams have been deployed at the spot as a precautionary measure. Those who sustained minor injuries were given first aid and discharged, while a few with serious injuries are still undergoing treatment at the Balasore District Headquarters Hospital.

The incident took place between 2 am and 3 am when a community had taken out a procession to mark a festival.
