Bhubaneswar, July 14 -- A bike rider was killed after a speeding Mercedes allegedly rammed into his motorcycle near the Shastri Nagar traffic post in Bhubaneswar, Odisha late on Monday night. The accident took place at around 11 pm, leaving the victim, Debi Prasad Rautray of Nuasahi, critically injured. Though he was rushed to Capital Hospital by police and locals, doctors declared him dead.

According to eyewitnesses, Debi was waiting at the traffic signal when the luxury car, allegedly travelling at high speed, crashed into his motorcycle from behind. The impact was so severe that the Mercedes' airbags were deployed, while the victim was reportedly dragged nearly 150 to 200 metres before the vehicle came to a halt.
