Bhubaneswar, June 8 -- Police seized around 70 kg of cannabis along with a luxury car in Odisha's Mayurbhanj district on Monday after locals alerted authorities about a suspicious vehicle parked near a village cremation ground.

The contraband, estimated to be worth around Rs 7 lakh, was recovered from the car that was reportedly lying unattended for the past three days near the cremation ground at Gouda village under Jashipur Police Station limits.

The occupants of the vehicle are suspected to have fled, abandoning the car and the cannabis.

According to police, local residents grew suspicious after noticing the vehicle parked at the same location for several days.
