Bhubaneswar, March 14 -- Allegations of police using third-degree torture have surfaced in Odisha's Jagatsinghpur district after a resident accused a police personnel at the Tarikunda outpost under Jagatsinghpur Sadar police station of assaulting him. The incident reportedly occurred on Saturday after the man approached another villager over repayment of a loan.
Loan Dispute Triggers Complaint
The complainant, Ramakanta Malik of Nakulanga village, claimed that he had lent Rs 50,000 to a fellow villager about four years ago. When he later asked for the money to be returned, the individual reportedly filed a complaint against him at the Tarikunda outpost.
