Bhubaneswar, June 12 -- An empty rake of the Konark Express lightly touched another empty rake standing on the same track outside the yard on Thursday morning while moving towards Bhubaneswar New Station for shunting.

The incident occurred at around 9.10 am and caused no damage, injuries or disruption to train services, as both rakes were empty.

Though minor in nature, the incident reminded many of the Bahanaga train accident in Odisha's Balasore district in June 2023, when a passenger train collided with derailed coaches of the Coromandel Express. The accident claimed 207 lives and left more than 900 people injured. A goods train was also involved in the mishap near Bahanaga railway station.
