Bhubaneswar, April 4 -- Police officials have detained two persons in connection with the death of a seven-year-old girl whose body was recovered from a canal in Rajnagar area of Odisha's Kendrapara district on Friday.

The incident was reported from Badakohla village under Rajnagar police limits. Late on Friday night, police picked up Benu Charan Das and his son Prashant Das for questioning. Both are currently being interrogated in connection with the case.

The family members of the deceased minor have alleged murder and named the duo in their complaint. The girl's mother has accused Benu Charan Das of killing her daughter and dumping the body in a nearby canal.
