Bhubaneswar, May 31 -- Kalbaisakhi has provided much-needed respite from the prevailing heat across Odisha, leading to a noticeable drop in temperatures in several parts of the state. The Regional Meteorological Centre has forecast a further decline in mercury levels by 2 to 4 degrees Celsius over the next 24 hours.

However, this relief is expected to be temporary, with temperatures likely to rise again by 2 to 3 degrees after two days.

Sambalpur experienced the full force of Kalbaisakhi on Saturday evening, when sudden rain and strong winds swept through the city and surrounding areas around 8 pm. The storm, accompanied by a heavy dust cloud, temporarily reduced visibility and disrupted normal life in the region.
