Bhubaneswar, June 27 -- A specially-abled woman allegedly attempted to take her own life at the Balighat Bridge over the Budhabalanga River under the jurisdiction of Balasore Town Police Station on Friday.

The woman was rescued after a journalist noticed her suspicious movements and intervened in time. They also alerted the police, who later arrived at the spot.

According to reports, the woman is a resident of the Kuruda area in Balasore district. She allegedly took the extreme step due to a long-standing land dispute. The woman claimed that despite repeated efforts, she had failed to receive justice either from the court or the police, which pushed her into emotional distress and led her to contemplate the drastic act.
